Objective and Purpose of the Assignment
To support preparation of the road safety component of the CAREC Corridors 2 and 6 Road
Modernization and Safety Project by providing specialized road safety assessments, designs, cost
estimates, and technical inputs for inclusion in project appraisal and loan documentation.
The consultant will:
- Establish road safety performance targets for the project road using the iRAP Star Rating for
Designs (SR4D) methodology.
- Identify and design pilot road safety improvement sections and prepare investment-grade treatment
designs and cost estimates.
- Develop road safety measures consistent with Safe System principles and the UNRSF/CAREC Design
Guidance.
- Assess regulatory compatibility of proposed road safety treatments with Uzbekistan's road design
standards.
- Prepare replicable road safety tools, guidelines, training concepts, and technical specifications
to support wider application across the national road network.
- Provide technical evidence and cost inputs required for ADB due diligence, fact-finding, project
appraisal, and loan processing
